Job Overview

Join The Traffic Group Limited as a Traffic Technician in the Erie-Meadville area. This entry-level position offers a starting wage between $18 and $20 per hour, with full-time hours primarily during weekdays and some weekend work. A signing bonus of $1,000 is provided after completing six months of employment. Applicants must carefully follow the application instructions, including viewing an orientation video prior to consideration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and position traffic counting devices and tubes on roadways as specified.
  • Retrieve traffic counting equipment after data collection periods end.
  • Download and process data from traffic counters and provide printouts.
  • Carry out turning movement counts when requested.
  • Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of traffic counting tools and equipment.

Requirements

  • Ability to travel daily and weekly with overnight stays, consisting of at least 50% of the year, with most weekends at home.
  • Physical capability to lift 10 to 50 pounds, including loading vehicles and setting up work zones, with necessary use of hand and power tools.
  • Completion of or possession of Basic Work Zone Safety Training certification.
  • Competency in reading maps, navigation, accurate collection of GPS data, and passing a map test.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, organizational skills, problem-solving prowess, and good computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and Google Earth.
  • Familiarity with radar, video recording equipment, wireless technologies, and strong electronics and troubleshooting skills preferred.
  • Comfort working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Safe operation of company vehicles with frequent ingress/egress along busy travel lanes.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively for special projects.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, and must pass background checks in compliance with federal and state laws.
  • Required to pass and maintain a negative drug test prior to and throughout employment.
