Job description

Role Overview

This position involves tracking, assessing, and forecasting the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) as well as climate-related performance across Dangote Cement Plc (DCP) at the corporate level. The role delivers detailed reports on sustainability KPIs, keeps up with industry trends, and evaluates the sustainability impact on business operations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with various teams and plant operations to implement and track sustainability improvement objectives and monitor progress.
  • Evaluate emerging ESG issues and work with leadership and operations teams to devise actionable plans.
  • Organize and conduct stakeholder engagements, producing actionable reports on environmental, social, and governance metrics.
  • Contribute to sustainability report preparation aligned with international frameworks such as IFRS S1 and S2, GRI, UNGC, and CDP.
  • Lead the coordination of the DCP decarbonization program, including facilitating training and ensuring compliance with reduction action plans and plant working group directives.
  • Leverage carbon accounting and ESG software to enhance data aggregation, analysis, and ensure prompt and accurate ESG reporting.
  • Manage sustainability campaigns and ESG initiatives, aiming for measurable outcomes.
  • Support capacity building and target achievement of Plant Sustainability Leads and champions.
  • Drive the practical implementation of the sustainability policy across business units via internal and external training sessions, workshops, and other initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in sustainability or an environmental-related discipline.
  • Advanced degree focused on sustainability or a related field is preferred.
  • At least 5 years experience in a corporate sustainability function within a large organization, ideally manufacturing.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in preparing sustainability reports in line with recognized global standards.
  • 2+ years of experience with greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, Word, and research methodologies.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, showing openness to new ideas and approaches.
