Role Overview
The Supportive Care Specialist functions as a critical communication bridge connecting patients with healthcare providers, facilitating receipt of clinical and supportive services. Daily responsibilities encompass administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, responding to related inquiries, and maintaining documentation consistent with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize EMR, Microsoft Outlook, SharePoint, and communication tools to manage patient data and correspondence.
- Schedule, confirm, and adjust patient appointments according to physician preferences.
- Answer incoming calls promptly, triage inquiries, and escalate issues to management when necessary.
- Ensure comprehensive and timely documentation of all interactions and clinical records.
- Comply with CMS regulations and organizational procedures related to care management.
- Collaborate effectively with medical staff, physicians, and patients to facilitate forms and non-clinical requests within scope.
- Support team activities such as mail management and uphold compliance with accreditation, HIPAA, and pharmacy regulations.
Qualifications and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
- Valid driver's license and adherence to FCS safety policies.
- A minimum of three years in healthcare or clinical environment; oncology experience is preferred.
- Proficiency in medical terminology and data entry favored.
- Strong command of MS Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
