Role Overview
As a Supplier Quality Engineer at our Singapore location, your main mission will be to assure supplier adherence, capability, and quality for manufacturing and machining components. This role spearheads supplier qualification, auditing, and corrective control measures to meet strict quality and engineering benchmarks. You will support new product development phases such as APQP, PPAP, and First Article Inspection and collaborate extensively across supply chain and engineering departments to mitigate quality risks and foster continuous quality enhancements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage supplier onboarding, qualification, and part approval procedures including APQP, PPAP, and FAI activities
- Perform comprehensive supplier audits encompassing system, process, and product aspects and ensure prompt resolution of findings
- Lead supplier corrective action requests using structured problem-solving methods like 8D and root cause analysis
- Analyze and enhance supplier quality through monitoring metrics, scorecards, and review meetings
- Work jointly with suppliers to boost process capabilities, lower defect rates, and improve overall quality metrics
- Maintain ISO 9001 Quality Management System compliance through audits and documentation management
- Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, and production teams to troubleshoot and resolve quality discrepancies and support new product introduction activities
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience, focusing on manufacturing and supplier quality oversight
- Practical expertise conducting supplier audits, managing qualification, and executing corrective actions
- Proficiency with quality tools including Statistical Process Control (SPC), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), and 8D problem solving techniques
- Experience working with machining suppliers such as CNC machining, fabrication, or precision component providers is advantageous
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and manufacturing processes
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills with capability to work autonomously in a dynamic setting
- Willingness to travel occasionally to fulfill business requirements
