Role Summary

The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) will ensure that components and materials acquired from external vendors consistently satisfy the company's stringent quality and regulatory requirements. This includes overseeing suppliers through product lifecycles encompassing initial qualification, routine performance tracking, and improvements related especially to alternators and motors across voltage ratings.

Core Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategies to continuously enhance supplier quality systems and manufacturing processes.
• Lead evaluation and advancement of supplier quality management to meet or exceed internal standards and regulatory mandates.
• Design and implement uniform inspection and testing protocols for incoming supplier materials and parts using automated optical inspection techniques.
• Collaborate with suppliers to standardize manufacturing steps to minimize variability and boost reliability.
• Work proactively with suppliers to identify causes of defects and reduce costs connected to scrap, rework, and rejections.
• Promote a zero-defect culture focusing on eliminating errors at the source rather than detecting them post-production.
• Supervise and instill the “First-Time Run” approach to ensure products are manufactured correctly during their initial production.
• Oversee quality and enhancement efforts specifically related to low, medium, and high-voltage alternators and motors.

Additional Responsibilities

• Ensure seamless new product launches by implementing safe launch plans for new development parts without causing delays or major quality setbacks.
• Create and maintain quality management plans for suppliers outlining clear performance criteria and expectations.
• Work collaboratively with internal teams and suppliers to resolve non-conformities promptly, including initiating corrective and preventive actions.
• Monitor supplier performance indicators such as quality, cost, delivery, and service (QCDS), preparing regular management reports.
• Conduct root cause analyses with suppliers to drive ongoing quality and process improvements.
• Maintain meticulous documentation of supplier quality activities including audits, metrics, and agreements.
• Support new product introductions by ensuring supplier adherence to quality standards and qualification processes like PPAP.
• Verify supplier compliance with industry and regulatory standards such as ISO 9001, IEC, and IATF regulations.
• Provide training and technical guidance to suppliers to help elevate quality standards and performance.

Key Deliverables

• Manage and update the approved supplier list (ASL) based on continual evaluations.
• Develop formal supplier development plans targeting continuous improvement projects and training.
• Document technical trainings, specifications, and guidelines offered to suppliers.
• Prepare qualification reports for new product introductions demonstrating supplier readiness prior to mass manufacturing.

Eligibility

Applicants must have completed a Diploma in any specialization.
