Storage Engineer (Software Defined Storage)

About the Role

A leading FinTech company is seeking a proficient Storage Engineer to become part of their expanding global infrastructure team located in Singapore. This role offers a unique chance to contribute to the design and expansion of advanced enterprise storage systems that support demanding high-performance computing and research applications worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and scale large-scale distributed enterprise storage services.
• Architect and maintain high-performance storage platforms including NFS, GPFS, WEKA, object storage, and cloud-native solutions.
• Optimize storage setups to support performance-critical computing and research workflows.
• Enhance automation, monitoring, and observability for storage infrastructure.
• Undertake capacity planning, forecasting, and lifecycle management for storage systems at scale.
• Diagnose and resolve complex storage and performance issues across distributed environments.
• Collaborate closely with global teams in compute, networking, and application engineering.
• Research and integrate emerging storage technologies and architectures into platforms.
• Help shape long-term storage platform strategy, operational tooling, and best practices.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Proven experience managing Linux and enterprise storage environments at scale.
• In-depth knowledge of distributed storage architectures and protocols such as GPFS, WEKA, Lustre, Ceph, and NFS.
• Skills in performing storage performance analysis, benchmarking, and optimization.
• Proficient in automation and scripting using Python or equivalent languages.
• Hands-on experience with infrastructure automation tools like Ansible or Chef.
• Familiarity with cloud storage platforms in AWS and/or GCP ecosystems.
• Strong grasp of monitoring and observability techniques within distributed systems.
• Understanding of contemporary software engineering practices including CI/CD pipelines and version control systems.
• Knowledge of storage hardware technologies including NVMe/SSD and storage networking is a plus.
• Experience in high-performance computing or latency-sensitive environments is highly valued.
