Job Overview
This role involves conducting research using biosamples from patients diagnosed with multiple myeloma, with the aim of gaining deeper insights into the disease’s biology and contributing to the development of more effective treatment options. The associate will work under the guidance of Dr. David Oh, who leads the UCSF Cancer Immunotherapy Laboratory focusing on translational research exploring immune therapy response and resistance, and Dr. Thomas Martin, the clinical research director for Hematologic Malignancies at UCSF.
Responsibilities
The associate will collaborate closely with the UCSF Hematologic Malignancies Tissue Bank to process patient samples for subsequent experimental analysis and correlate these samples with additional patient data when available.
Required Qualifications
- A BA/BS degree in biomedical research or a related scientific discipline, or equivalent education and experience.
- Hands-on experience with basic biomedical research methodologies.
- Laboratory experience including tissue culture.
- Proficiency in flow cytometry, PCR, and basic molecular biology techniques.
- Skills in maintaining lab operations and supporting team members.
- Competence with cell culture practices, including maintenance of cell lines, transfection methods, and isolation of RNA and DNA.
- Experience in protein biochemistry is preferred.
- Ability to quickly acquire new techniques and methods.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills alongside analytical capabilities.
- Demonstrated reliability and consistent attendance.
- Mathematical skills to perform calculations for cell counts and solution dilutions.
- Computer literacy for spreadsheets and word processing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with protein biochemistry techniques.
