Software Engineer - Python

Role overview

This is a 6-month rolling daily-rate contract for a senior Python software engineer based in Dublin. The role sits within the technology team of a major international bank, where you will help build web-based Python solutions for complex business needs, especially in risk and finance.

The organisation is a large global banking group with a strong presence in Dublin and a significant focus on fintech and advanced technology. The team is working on several new initiatives, and there is a strong chance of longer-term engagement for the right person.

What you will do

• Design and develop Python-based web applications that solve complex business problems.
• Work closely with business stakeholders, business analysts, and fellow developers to deliver strong risk management solutions.
• Contribute to enterprise-scale systems supporting risk and finance functions.
• Operate as part of global teams on high-impact projects.
• Use an agile way of working and help improve team processes.
• Explore and adopt new technologies where appropriate.

Experience and technical background

• At least 5 years of Python development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience building complex software modules independently while following best practices.
• Enterprise-level exposure to microservices, API frameworks, and design patterns.
• Practical experience with a major web framework such as Django, FastAPI, or Flask.
• Comfort working with databases, preferably through ORM tools such as SQLAlchemy.
• Experience with CI/CD and related tools including Git, Jenkins, Artifactory, and Ansible.
• Background working with larger applications that use microservices and containers.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred background

• Experience in Agile delivery environments.
• Strong working knowledge of Linux or UNIX systems.
• Experience building RESTful APIs with Python frameworks such as Flask or Django.

Compensation

The contract pays €500 to €600 per day, depending on experience.

Additional information

This is an onsite contract position in Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland. The assignment is described as a rolling 6-month contract, with a high likelihood of continued work for suitable candidates.
