About the Role

Work Schedule and Travel

Project-based rotation schedules, typically 14/7 or 21/7.
Shifts last 12 hours, covering both day and night options.
Travel arrangements vary by project—either flights through approved hubs or drive-in/drive-out options.
Accommodations are provided during the projects.

Pre-Employment Requirements

Completion of Alcohol and Drug Screening.
Passing a thorough Fitness-to-Work assessment adhering to Alberta OHS and Human Rights Act standards, including:

Health history review.
Pre-medical measurements (height, weight, blood pressure, oxygen levels).
Comprehensive musculoskeletal examination.
Tests on strength and mobility aligned with job demands (lifting up to 50 lbs).

Possession of the following valid safety credentials:

CSO / BSO / CSTS-09 / OSSA Regional certificates.
Intermediate First Aid with CPR and AED certification.
H2S Alive training.
Bear Awareness (in-class).
Ground Disturbance (HEO).

Valid driver’s license.
CSA-approved safety boots (minimum 6-inch, laceable).

Job Expectations and Responsibilities

Physically capable of safely lifting up to 50 lbs repeatedly.
Flexibility to work rotational shifts up to 12 hours, day or night, adaptable to project needs.
Tolerance for noise and vibrations inherent to the job environment.
Willingness to perform various labor tasks as needed.
Adaptability to working in outdoor conditions across all weather types.

Setting up work zones with appropriate signage and hazard marking.
Handling and transporting construction materials.
Shoveling soil and clearing equipment tracks.
Assisting with flagging and traffic control duties.
Performing grade measurements.
Monitoring equipment operation.
Excavating by hand near facilities and installing erosion control using geotextile materials.
Following project specifications to maintain high quality standards.
Communicating effectively with supervisors, operators, and site personnel to ensure smooth workflow.
Promoting a strong safety culture by complying with Morgan’s procedures and personal protective equipment policies.
Maintaining situational awareness to avoid hazards and conducting Job Safety Analyses (JSA) and Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHA) as necessary.
Exercising sound judgment and problem-solving capabilities.
Demonstrating flexibility to collaborate within teams and to take initiative independently.
Operating two-way radios for communication.
Supporting ground staff as required.
Performing other duties assigned.

Experience and Qualifications

At least 2 years of recent experience as a construction laborer in heavy civil earthworks, road building, construction, or mining projects.
Valid class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record from the last 3 years.
Ability to read and interpret survey layouts is an advantage.
Experience operating a packer machine is preferred.

Employment Terms

This is a project-based role connected to specific project timelines. Employment concludes upon project completion or the individual’s role ending. Future opportunities may arise with other projects, but ongoing employment is not assured.
