Overview
The Shift Leader plays a crucial role in coaching restaurant team members to uphold brand standards and deliver excellent customer service during their shift. Reporting to the Restaurant Manager, this role involves setting clear goals, delegating tasks, and motivating the team through constructive feedback.
Responsibilities
- Carry out all duties of restaurant team members.
- Assist the Restaurant Manager in achieving operational targets and ensuring smooth execution.
- Maintain brand standards throughout the shift, including food and beverage preparation.
- Communicate priorities, goals, and outcomes clearly to the team.
- Plan staff deployment to ensure adequate coverage during shifts.
- Provide coaching and feedback to team members to foster growth and performance.
- Efficiently assign tasks to ensure workflow is organized and resources are utilized effectively.
- Support the training of new and existing staff as necessary.
- Oversee safety, security, and profitability policies consistently during shifts.
- Ensure smooth shift transitions by briefing incoming Shift Leaders.
- Maintain food safety standards rigorously.
- Manage inventory throughout the shift to prevent shortages or excess.
- Deliver outstanding guest service and guide team members to do the same.
- Address customer complaints and conflicts promptly to uphold the restaurant’s reputation.
- Handle cash management, including monitoring cash over/short and adherence to cash handling policies.
- Track employee attendance, punctuality, and compliance with company policies.
Qualifications
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Basic proficiency with computers.
- Fluency in English or the local language spoken at the restaurant.
- Prior leadership experience within retail, restaurant, hospitality or a similar customer-facing environment.
- Demonstrated capability in managing store operations daily, including opening/closing duties, cash handling, deposits, and operational controls.
- Proven skills in leading teams to achieve performance goals and delivering excellent customer experiences in fast-paced settings.
