Position Overview
We seek experienced Senior to Principal DevOps Engineers to join our team creating next-generation trust infrastructure. This role involves developing robust, production-grade distributed systems that power certificate lifecycle and evolving trust models. You will define deployment, scaling, recovery, and operational practices to ensure systems meet stringent requirements for correctness, resilience, and availability from the outset. A strong collaboration with engineering, architecture, and ecosystem partners is critical to incorporate operational readiness into system design and implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Define criteria for production readiness focusing on availability, resilience, service-level objectives, and failure recovery.
- Develop and enforce observability standards including metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting tailored to operational realities.
- Create operational guardrails to avoid drift between demonstration and production environments.
- Design and implement CI/CD pipelines, deployment strategies, and rollback procedures to streamline software delivery.
- Develop Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) to enable repeatable, reliable deployment across multiple environments without assumptions of cloud-native exclusivity.
- Conduct load, stress, and failure testing to verify system behavior under realistic conditions.
- Implement multi-region high availability and disaster recovery mechanisms and continuously validate capacity and scaling limitations.
- Partner with backend and architecture teams to embed operational concerns early in system design and collaborate with ecosystem stakeholders to align operational requirements.
- Ensure external dependencies and upstream components comply with operational constraints for real-world production readiness.
- Perform additional tasks as needed based on company initiatives and business requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline is highly preferred.
- Extensive experience at senior or principal levels in DevOps, site reliability engineering (SRE), or production infrastructure engineering.
- Proven ability managing distributed systems at scale, ensuring high availability and resilience.
- Expertise in observability practices, monitoring, alerting, and incident response.
- Strong skills in building CI/CD pipelines and automating deployment and release processes.
- Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or equivalents.
- Deep understanding of performance tuning, scaling strategies, and system reliability engineering principles.
- Ability to influence system architecture collaboratively, not just operate systems post-development.
- Experience with security-critical or trust infrastructure systems is strongly favored.
- Previous involvement in open-source or multi-organization collaborations is preferred.
- Familiarity with PKI, certificate lifecycle management systems, or platforms requiring strict correctness is advantageous.
- Experience supporting systems with stringent availability and correctness mandates is also preferred.
Desired Attributes
- Leadership through influence rather than formal authority.
- Excellent communication and technical decision-making.
- Experience scaling multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
- Expertise in database and storage performance optimization.
- Hands-on practice with global or multi-region distributed systems.
- Background close to SRE or platform engineering teams.
