Senior Quantity Surveyor

Role Overview

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will oversee comprehensive cost management, contract administration, and commercial control duties across designated projects, ensuring effective financial governance and project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• During the pre-contract phase, prepare detailed cost estimates, conduct feasibility analyses, develop cost plans, participate in tendering activities including quantity take-offs, Bill of Quantity (BOQ) creation, and tender evaluations.
• Provide counsel on appropriate procurement strategies and contract forms, and assist in drafting tender and contract documentation.
• In the post-contract phase, manage project budgets, valuations, and cost reporting activities. Evaluate contract variations, change orders, and claims with full documentation and validation.
• Prepare and assess interim payment requests and final account settlements.
• Perform site inspections regularly to track progress and validate measured works.
• Offer expert advice on contract interpretation, risk mitigation, and dispute resolution approaches.
• Maintain comprehensive records of project expenditures, forecast costs, and produce monthly cost reports and financial statements for stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities to reduce expenses while maintaining quality and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to maintain clear communication and project coherence, acting as a professional representative in client and consultant engagements.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Between 8 to 12 years of pertinent experience, ideally within consultancy, engineering, or construction sectors.
• In-depth understanding of FIDIC and other global contract standards.
• Familiarity with cost management tools such as CostX, Candy, Microsoft Excel, and MS Project.
• Strong analytical capabilities coupled with proficient negotiation and communication skills.
