Job description
Job Summary
The Senior Project Engineer will assist the Head of Machinery by overseeing engineering tasks related to the design, development, coordination, execution, and monitoring of projects, ensuring they align with the company’s strategic goals and commitments. The position primarily focuses on technical support for rotating machinery within the utilities sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage engineering and procurement activities for rotating equipment such as compressors, pumps, turbines, blowers, and gearboxes.
- Analyze performance curves, vibration data, alignment protocols, and reliability statistics.
- Coordinate factory acceptance testing (FAT), installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting in collaboration with vendors and onsite teams.
- Identify and ensure timely delivery of spare parts and special tools according to project needs.
- Support the Head of Engineering in harmonizing multidisciplinary engineering tasks with project objectives, EPCC contract obligations, and internal procedures.
- Monitor and report on the status of engineering deliverables, flagging any deviations and aiding recovery efforts.
- Review and provide technical feedback on documentation from EPCC contractors, including datasheets, drawings, specifications, and vendor documents.
- Participate in subcontractor kick-off meetings to align technical scope, quality standards, and timelines.
- Supervise fabrication progress and assist in resolving non-conformance reports (NCRs) or defects reported by subcontractors.
- Work closely with the construction team to ensure accurate installation of equipment in line with engineering standards.
- Track engineering deliverables against commissioning schedules and report discrepancies.
- Coordinate with EPCC contractors and internal departments to ensure timely completion of engineering inputs required for commissioning.
- Manage engineering interfaces between operations, maintenance, projects, procurement, and EPCC contractors.
- Assist the Interface Team with technical evaluations of spare parts, tie-in readiness, and resolving interface challenges.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary review sessions including HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, QRA, and 3D model reviews, ensuring follow-up on action items.
- Help identify and track engineering risks and contribute to the Project Risk Register.
- Maintain comprehensive records of technical reviews, NCR resolutions, inspections, and interface coordination.
- Support audit preparations and participate actively in lessons learned exercises.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience within the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industries, or an EPC environment.
- Familiarity with process engineering software and thorough understanding of process engineering practices in line with international standards.
- Strong project management, leadership, and team coordination skills.
- Experience with major Ammonia and Urea projects is preferred.
