Key Responsibilities
- Provide support for standardizing equipment specifications, technical drawings, and document templates.
- Contribute to the interpretation and application of technical knowledge, legal regulations, and customer requirements within permissible boundaries.
- Apply relevant local and international standards to maintain technical excellence.
- Assist in reviewing and verifying design documentation to ensure compliance with company and project specifications.
- Oversee and guide mechanical design staff and draftsmen assigned to projects.
- Develop detailed specifications, data sheets, and related information for rotating equipment and mechanical system packages.
- Perform bid evaluations, and review and approve vendor documentation.
- Engage in technical writing including preparing detailed reports and operational manuals.
- Manage technical studies and mechanical projects focused on rotating equipment as assigned.
- Prepare technical requisitions and specify requirements for inspection, testing, and documentation.
- Implement innovative technologies and methods to efficiently manage out-of-sequence work processes.
- Support the Lead Engineer in monitoring quality activities, initiating corrective actions when necessary.
- Assist the project team with documentation such as proposals, cost estimates, budgets, and schedules.
- Lead and participate in weekly mechanical discipline meetings, generate progress reports, and adhere to required quality assurance processes.
- Review and approve all related technical documentation and coordinate with the Lead Engineer.
- Provide mechanical engineering input for conceptual studies, front-end engineering, and detailed design for petrochemical, refinery, and oil & gas facilities including utilities.
- Ensure compliance with Quality Assurance systems and promote safe working practices according to OH&S standards.
- Maintain a strong focus on Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) requirements, encouraging team adherence to safety protocols and continuous improvement of workplace safety.
- Identify, report, and help mitigate work-related hazards and incidents.
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution is required.
- Mandatory MME (Ministry of Municipality and Environment) engineering accreditation; candidates lacking this accreditation must complete it within their probation period.
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) certification or progression towards this credential is advantageous.
Professional Experience
- Extensive experience in the Oil & Gas industry, particularly within GCC countries.
- Proven background in Detailed Design and Front End Engineering Design (FEED) related to mechanical engineering.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering standards, codes, and Qatar Petroleum specifications.
- Prior experience as a Rotating Equipment Engineer for upstream and midstream gas turbines is highly valued.
- Well-versed in handling compressors and pumps.
