Job description
Job Overview
We are looking for a seasoned Senior Manager to lead the Account Maintenance Unit (AMU) at a prominent financial institution in Doha, Qatar. This leadership role encompasses managing the comprehensive lifecycle of customer accounts, including their creation, alterations, closures, and ensuring all activities meet regulatory and compliance standards.
Core Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the Account Maintenance Unit to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
- Manage all aspects of customer account lifecycle — opening, maintenance, amendment, and closure processes.
- Process client requests promptly adhering to defined service level agreements (SLAs).
- Maintain high data integrity within core banking platforms and ensure thorough documentation for account activities.
- Administer account maintenance for diverse segments such as Retail, Corporate, SME, and Private Banking.
- Collaborate with IT and technology teams to support system upgrades, banking transformations, digital initiatives, and testing phases.
- Ensure strict compliance with KYC, AML, FATCA, CRS, Central Bank regulations, and institutional policies.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks within account maintenance processes, supporting audit procedures and implementing corrective actions.
- Manage Customer Information Files and customer master data, ensuring compliance and completeness.
- Lead and develop a high-performing AMU team by assigning workloads, setting objectives, and fostering continuous operational excellence and teamwork.
- Drive process improvements through automation, workflow enhancement, KPI monitoring, and operational dashboard development.
- Engage with various stakeholders across banking functions, regulators, auditors, and vendors to ensure seamless operations and reporting.
- Prepare management information system reports and maintain governance standards for all AMU activities.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Banking & Finance, Commerce, Accounting, Economics, Information Technology, Computer Science, Management, or related fields.
- At least 15 years of progressive experience in banking operations with proven leadership in managing an Account Maintenance Unit or equivalent.
- Extensive exposure to customer account lifecycle management and core banking systems.
- Experience spanning Retail and Corporate Banking operations along with leading sizable operational teams.
- Prior involvement in banking transformation projects or core banking migrations is advantageous.
