Senior Accountant

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Accountant based in the United Arab Emirates with expertise in freight forwarding and logistics accounting. This role involves managing comprehensive financial activities, ensuring accuracy in data processing, and supporting financial decision-making through detailed reporting and analysis.

Key Responsibilities

• Record and manage financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries, ensuring complete and precise financial data.
• Prepare and validate client invoices, monitor outstanding payments, and work cross-functionally to resolve any billing discrepancies.
• Support the preparation of financial statements such as profit and loss accounts and balance sheets, along with generating and analyzing various financial reports.
• Monitor and analyze freight forwarding related costs, contributing to the formulation of effective cost control strategies.
• Regularly reconcile bank statements and financial accounts, investigating and resolving any inconsistencies.
• Ensure adherence to applicable accounting standards and financial regulations, keeping abreast of changes relevant to the freight forwarding sector.
• Maintain well-organized financial records and prepare documentation necessary for audits.
• Collaborate closely with departments including operations and sales to gather financial inputs and address accounting queries.
• Identify and implement improvements in accounting processes to boost efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a similar field.
• At least 2 years of accounting experience, preferably within freight forwarding or logistics industries.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles, standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Competency with accounting software and Microsoft Office applications.
• Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
