About the role
Join The AA as a Roadside Rescue Mechanic and help members get moving again when vehicle trouble interrupts their journey. You’ll be the reassuring first point of contact, working in all kinds of weather and across a range of locations to resolve issues quickly and safely. This role is designed for someone who enjoys independence, problem-solving, and delivering a great customer experience while representing the UK’s largest motoring organisation.
Compensation and working pattern
The base salary for this position is £38,270, with total earnings potential of up to £60,000 for top performers. You’ll work an average of 40 hours per week, and several shift pattern options are available so you can choose a schedule that better fits your personal and professional life. Rest days and shift lengths depend on the pattern selected.
Key duties
- Begin and end your day from home, with paid time counted from when you get into your van until you return.
- Work autonomously across different areas and conditions while staying connected to a supportive team.
- Use your technical expertise and communication skills to deliver a smooth and positive experience for customers.
- Troubleshoot and fix breakdown issues on the spot, applying a calm, practical approach to a variety of roadside situations.
What you need
- A Level 3 NVQ in vehicle maintenance and repair, or an equivalent qualification backed by relevant experience.
- A full category B driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points.
- Confidence with technology and the ability to adapt to new tools and systems provided for the job.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays.
