Retail District Manager

About the Role

The Retail District Manager will lead multiple retail stores, focusing on enhancing performance, productivity, profitability, and people strategies across assigned locations. This position requires an experienced and dynamic leader who excels in fast-paced, high-volume retail settings, ensuring rapid production, efficient inventory management, labor productivity, excellent customer experience, and flawless execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Guide and support Store Managers to meet financial targets, operational standards, production goals, and workforce requirements consistently.
• Conduct frequent visits to retail sites to assess operations including production efficiency, inventory flow, merchandising, staffing, and safety.
• Spot operational weaknesses promptly and implement corrective strategies to improve performance.
• Promote a culture of accountability, urgency, operational discipline, and ongoing improvement throughout the district.
• Drive merchandise throughput and production metrics by overseeing efficient processing, inventory movement, and optimizing labor deployment.
• Manage financial outcomes by analyzing sales and production data, controlling expenses within budget, and maximizing workforce productivity.
• Recruit, develop, and coach Store Managers and leadership staff, ensuring strong succession planning and leadership cultivation.
• Ensure seamless merchandise flow, replenishment, and merchandising standards across all store locations to maximize sales.
• Collaborate with various departments such as Human Resources, Loss Prevention, and Safety to meet organizational goals and comply with regulations.
• Support opening of new stores with focus on operational readiness and leadership staffing.
• Provide interim leadership at stores when required to maintain business continuity.

Qualifications and Skills

• Associate degree in Business Management, Retail Management, Operations, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• At least five years of progressive leadership experience managing multiple locations or high-volume operations.
• Demonstrated expertise in multi-unit leadership within retail or comparable metrics-driven environments.
• Strong analytic skills to interpret financial, operational, sales, labor, and productivity data and implement improvements.
• Excellent leadership, communication, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to secure company insurance.
• Readiness to travel frequently within the assigned territory and work extended hours as needed.

Working Conditions

This role involves frequent travel between retail locations and requires physical activities such as standing, walking, bending, and handling donated goods. The position demands flexibility for extended work hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays to address business and staffing needs. The candidate must manage multiple priorities under pressure while maintaining effective leadership and decision-making.
