About the Role

About the Institution
The Mike Wiegers Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is a part of the Carl R. Ice College of Engineering. It includes 19 faculty members and educates approximately 500 undergraduate and graduate students within its state-of-the-art Engineering Hall, which houses modern research labs, classrooms, and offices. The department has active research programs in power systems, power electronics, wireless communications, network engineering, and biomedical engineering.

The College of Engineering is located on the main campus in Manhattan, Kansas, a safe and family-friendly city of about 50,000 residents, known for affordable housing, excellent schools, great parks, cultural options, and short commutes.
Worksite and Legal Requirements
This role requires the employee to work on-site in Manhattan, KS. Employees must reside in the United States upon starting employment to meet state laws. Remote or hybrid work options are not permitted for residents of Idaho for this position.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree along with three years of relevant experience is required. Additional education beyond the bachelor’s degree may substitute relevant experience at the discretion of the hiring manager. The degree and experience combination ensures candidates have the quantitative skills, statistical understanding, and technical capabilities needed for managing complex datasets, performing advanced analyses, and delivering insights.
- Preferred degrees include Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or related areas.
- Programming experience in Python, along with proficiency in SQL and data analysis, is desirable.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and an ability to work independently and in teams are important.
- Experience or interest in large language models (LLMs), generative AI tools, data visualization platforms (such as Pandas, Power BI, Tableau), Git or collaborative software development, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, or power systems is highly valued.
- Experience developing AI-assisted applications or automating workflows will be advantageous.
