About the Role

Join Kraft Heinz's New Zealand R&D team in Hastings as an R&D Process Technologist and take advantage of a dynamic and collaborative work environment with great opportunities for career growth. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with initial CAPEX project scoping and provide support during CAPEX commissioning phases.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives requiring R&D process technical insights.
  • Develop a series of process engineering projects that create value aligned with company and cluster strategies.
  • Maintain strong technical relationships and knowledge exchange with Kraft Heinz's international process engineering teams and external collaborators to facilitate the implementation of advanced local engineering solutions.
  • Apply best practices in project management to ensure projects meet business and technical goals, including feasibility assessments, timeline adherence, and compliance with R&D methodologies and governance.
  • Lead R&D-driven projects focused on process engineering value creation, environmental sustainability, social governance, and technology advancement.
  • Offer process engineering guidance to cross-functional teams and R&D value creation groups.
  • Support the selection, optimization, validation, and commissioning of current and new processes and equipment.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Between 1 to 3 years of experience in an R&D role within the food industry.
  • Expertise in process improvement and process development in food manufacturing or product innovation.
  • Experience operating in manufacturing and pilot plant settings.
  • Knowledge of essential food manufacturing processes such as ingredient preparation, blending, thermal processing, and packaging.
  • Proficiency with software tools including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and project management applications.
  • Capability to extract and analyze data to monitor trends related to processes and food quality.
  • Familiarity with production systems like Agile, BPCS, and SAP.
  • Understanding of the FSANZ Food Standards Code and food labeling regulations.
  • Awareness of the interactions among ingredients, additives, recipes, processing methods, and packaging types.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the product development lifecycle covering consumer insights, ideation, technical validation, factory rollout, and product launch.
  • Strong detail orientation and proven problem-solving abilities.
