Role Overview
The Quality Systems Manager position at the Llantarnam bakery is pivotal in managing and enhancing the site's Quality Management System (QMS). The role focuses on maintaining compliance with internal, customer, and regulatory standards, ensuring quality documentation integrity, and promoting a culture of quality and continuous improvement. Collaboration across departments to meet audit readiness and excellence in quality governance is essential.
Key Duties
- Keep the Site QMS effective, current, and compliant with Ferrero, FBC UK Group, regulatory, and customer expectations.
- Create, implement, and uphold site-wide quality standards, policies, and codes of practice aligned with Group guidelines.
- Disseminate and embed quality protocols across the facility per network directives.
- Manage and control accuracy, accessibility, and currency of all quality documents and records.
- Lead sanitation, GMP, HACCP, and pest control initiatives to uphold hygiene and ensure documentation rigor.
- Supervise internal and external monitoring to ensure adherence to quality procedures and instructions.
- Validate product quality measures, assess risks/opportunities, and drive corrective action and continual enhancements.
- Review quality KPIs, establish and assess effective corrective plans.
- Support site-wide Food Safety and Quality culture efforts.
- Ensure preparedness for all audits (customer, regulatory, certification, group), providing support during external audits.
- Maintain an efficient internal audit program compliant with FBC UK standards to foster improvements.
- Encourage continuous improvement initiatives, enhancing quality performance and operational success.
- Promote quality excellence through coaching, engagement, and collaboration across functions.
- Optimize site quality data systems for accurate reporting, trend analysis, and compliance tracking.
- Manage quality data to aid decision-making and continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Experience
- HACCP Level 3 certified.
- Food Safety Level 3 or equivalent qualification.
- Proven experience in managing Quality Systems within a food manufacturing context.
- Familiarity with UK retailer standards, including M&S and Tesco.
- Established track record maintaining and enhancing QMS.
- Strong knowledge of food safety, GMP, HACCP, quality assurance, sanitation, and pest management.
- Experience assisting internal, customer, and third-party audit processes.
