Job description

About the Role

Join Parallel Workshop Architects as a Project Architect in a full-time, on-site position based in Glen Iris, Victoria. This role offers the opportunity to take full ownership of architectural projects, working closely with senior leaders while growing within a purpose-driven studio culture that values proactive decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily project delivery activities including coordinating with consultants and collaborating with project managers.
  • Mentor junior staff as an integral part of your role.
  • Make timely and autonomous decisions to drive projects forward.
  • Manage project timelines, forecast deliverables, and escalate risks transparently early on.
  • Maintain clear communication and coordination with all stakeholders on your projects.

Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 2 years in a dedicated Project Architect role reporting to associates or directors.
  • Registered Practising Architect with the Architects Registration Board of Victoria (ARBV).
  • A minimum of 3 years focused experience working exclusively with Revit software.
  • At least 5 years background in multi-residential architectural projects.
  • Proven involvement in delivering at least one project from Town Planning through to construction completion.
  • Ability to confidently progress work amid incomplete information and manage imperfect or delayed consultant data.
  • Track record of owning project outcomes instead of just individual tasks.

Working Culture and Skills

Our studio embraces reality where information from consultants and clients can be incomplete or delayed. We utilize a "Level 3 — Adaptive Coordinator" methodology that encourages early anticipation of gaps, progression based on validated assumptions, and solution-oriented communication with consultants. This culture supports direct, transparent communication with senior leaders and fosters learning before making changes.

  • Preference for self-trusting individuals who proactively make decisions instead of waiting for direction.
  • Openness to admitting unclear points early rather than silently guessing.
  • Ability to hold consultants accountable while maintaining positive relationships.
  • Willingness to learn existing processes thoroughly before proposing adjustments.

Growth Opportunities

The firm invests actively in the professional development of its Project Architects through regular feedback sessions, clear performance evaluations, and defined pathways for leadership roles within project delivery.
