Role Overview
The Production Incharge is responsible for coordinating everyday manufacturing activities on the shop floor. The role focuses on keeping output efficient, safe, cost-controlled, and aligned with required standards and delivery commitments.
Core Responsibilities
This position involves planning production flow, guiding shop-floor teams, monitoring quality, and removing operational obstacles so that production targets are achieved consistently.
Production Planning and Execution
- Prepare and organize production schedules so customer orders are completed on time.
- Track workflow across the line and make adjustments when priorities change.
Team Handling
- Allocate daily work to team members and ensure shift coverage is managed properly.
- Review staff performance and provide day-to-day supervision on the floor.
Quality and Compliance
- Check that finished products meet quality benchmarks and required regulatory standards.
- Support corrective actions when defects or process gaps are identified.
Inventory and Materials
- Keep watch on raw material availability to reduce shortages and unnecessary wastage.
- Work with the purchasing team to maintain smooth material flow.
Machine Uptime and Maintenance
- Coordinate regular machine inspections, servicing, and repair follow-ups.
- Help minimize downtime by resolving equipment-related issues quickly.
Safety Practices
- Enforce shop-floor safety rules and promote methods such as 6S and Lean manufacturing.
- Work to reduce the risk of workplace incidents and unsafe practices.
Performance Reporting
- Maintain records of productivity, scrap levels, efficiency, and other key metrics.
- Share regular updates with plant leadership on production performance.
Qualifications and Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or Business Administration is expected.
- Applicants should have 3 to 5 years of experience in a supervisory or managerial role within manufacturing or production.
- Strong leadership, sound judgment, and effective problem-solving skills are needed.
- Familiarity with production software and ERP systems is required.
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification is considered an advantage.
