Role overview
This position supports end-to-end procurement operations at Tata Electronics in Mayang, Assam. The role focuses on purchase order execution, requisition handling, supplier coordination, stakeholder alignment, and continuous process improvement within a controlled compliance environment.
Core responsibilities
- Raise and administer purchase orders in line with agreed commercial terms, business conditions, relevant laws, and company policies.
- Handle inventory-related purchasing requests through planning platforms and manage non-inventory requests through procurement requisition tools.
- Act on changing demand signals for inventory replenishment and customer-driven purchase requirements.
- Work with suppliers to validate pricing, delivery timelines, and purchase terms, coordinating with sourcing teams when needed.
- Escalate supplier concerns, conflicts, or disputes to the relevant supplier account manager.
- Support timely approval of purchase orders by coordinating with stakeholders.
- Partner with warehousing teams to ensure goods receipts are completed on schedule.
- Track PO confirmations and help resolve overdue receipt situations.
- Coordinate with vendors on pull-in and push-out changes while managing risks to material availability.
- Work with Accounts Payable and Receiving teams to resolve invoice and receipt mismatches in the PO-to-Pay process, escalating issues when required.
- Identify recurring procurement process issues and escalate systemic problems appropriately.
- Take part in review meetings for high-value projects and ensure stakeholder alignment.
- Share updates with stakeholders on pending orders, new part requests, and new vendor requests.
- Draft and improve SOPs for procurement-related processes.
- Maintain strong working knowledge of procurement processes and systems and contribute to ongoing improvement efforts.
- Support efficiency, effectiveness, and internal customer satisfaction by driving procurement process and systems enhancements.
- Keep procurement records accurate, complete, and current.
- Ensure procurement activities meet internal and external audit requirements.
Qualifications and experience
The ideal candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree, preferably in engineering, or a Post Graduate Diploma, Professional Degree, Business Studies, Administration, Management, or a related equivalent qualification. A certification in Supply Chain Management is preferred.
Applicants need at least 10 years of experience in procurement, specifically involving indirect purchases, tools, spare parts, or materials.
Required capabilities
- Hands-on experience with SAP ERP or similar supply chain management software.
- Strong analytical ability and sound problem-solving skills.
- Comfort working independently with limited supervision.
- Good command of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects effectively.
- Strong communication, influencing, and collaboration skills.
Preferred exposure
- Knowledge of semiconductor equipment, spare part assemblies, and materials.
- Lean or Six Sigma certification is an added advantage.
- Understanding of fab operations is preferred.
