Job description
About Midlands State University
Midlands State University, based in Gweru, Midlands Province, Zimbabwe, invites applications for two Procurement Officer positions within its Procurement Management Unit.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possession of at least a Higher National Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Purchasing and Supply or Supply Chain Management.
- Professional certification such as CIPS in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management is advantageous.
- Minimum of one year relevant post-qualification experience in procurement.
- Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.
- Ability to function effectively as a team member.
- High attention to detail in work execution is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Receiving and reviewing requisitions from various user departments.
- Ensuring completeness and accuracy of specifications, assisting departments in specifying needs appropriately.
- Requesting quotations via the Electronic Government Procurement System (e-GPS).
- Creating priced requisitions within the system and forwarding them to the Planning Office for approval.
- Conducting audit-compliant Electronic Quotation Box (EQB) openings.
- Preparing Cost Comparative Schedules (CCS) for submission to the Procurement Specialist.
- Conducting price benchmarking with credible and competitive suppliers.
- Converting purchase requisitions into official purchase orders.
- Monitoring and expediting processing and delivery of procurement orders.
- Maintaining thorough filing of procurement records and proceedings.
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Procurement Specialist.
