Role overview
Hyetron Energy is looking for a practical, hands-on PLC and controls engineer to help build and commission electrolyser test benches. The position centers on PLC development, HMI creation, electrical integration, power supply control, industrial networking, and end-to-end system commissioning. You will collaborate with the technical team to implement automation logic, control sequences, safety protections, and communication interfaces for advanced hydrogen equipment.
What you will do
- Create and commission PLC applications using Siemens S7-1200 and TIA Portal.
- Design HMI pages for live monitoring and operator control.
- Connect and bring up PLCs, HMIs, power supplies, sensors, actuators, and industrial communication links for electrolyser test benches.
- Set up analog and digital input/output configurations.
- Develop control logic, alarm handling, safety interlocks, and automated test sequences.
- Assemble and commission electrical control panels.
- Assist with hands-on integration, testing, troubleshooting, and final commissioning of systems.
What we are looking for
- A B.Tech, B.E., or diploma background in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
- About 1 to 2 years of practical PLC programming experience for one section of the role requirements, and 3 to 5 years of PLC/automation experience for the broader experience preference mentioned in the description.
- Hands-on experience with Siemens S7-1200 PLCs and TIA Portal.
- Working knowledge of PLC programming, I/O setup, alarms, interlocks, and automation sequencing.
- Good familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus RTU/TCP, Profinet, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, RS485, RS232, and CAN.
- Experience integrating sensors, VFDs, actuators, power supplies, and other industrial hardware.
- Comfort with electrical schematics, panel wiring, and commissioning activities.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
Preferred experience
- Exposure to WinCC, SCADA, LabVIEW, or Python.
- Experience with data acquisition and logging systems.
- Background in process automation or machine automation.
- Exposure to fuel cells, electrolyser systems, battery systems, or renewable energy technologies.
Growth and learning opportunity
This is not limited to a conventional PLC coding role. You will gain practical exposure to hydrogen and electrolyser technology, industrial automation, power electronics, energy systems, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Battery Management System (BMS) integration, and renewable or grid-connected systems. As the company expands, the role can open a path into Power Systems Engineering, including battery systems, BMS, power electronics, hydrogen applications, and renewable energy systems.
About Hyetron
Hyetron Energy is a deep-tech startup building next-generation electrolyser systems for cost-effective green hydrogen production. The team focuses on real industrial hardware, moving from prototypes to pilot-scale systems with strong ownership across electrical, controls, and system engineering. Engineers work directly with equipment and solve real-world issues that affect performance and scalability.
Who should apply
Applicants from the following streams can apply: Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), Production and Industrial Engineering, Instrumentation and Control Engineering, Robotics and Automation Engineering, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics, and Applied Electronics and Instrumentation.
Additional information
The role is based in Palakkad, India. The compensation mentioned is INR 2,25,000 to INR 3,75,000 per year. The company is looking for someone with a strong builder mindset who is comfortable taking systems from concept to a working prototype and who wants to grow from PLC and automation work into broader energy and power systems engineering.
