About the Opportunity
Join Auckland Council as a People Partner within the People, Safety and Wellbeing department. This fixed term position runs until March 2027 and involves working in a close-knit, agile HR Business Partner (HRBP) team focused on strategic and operational support. You will play a crucial role in linking people strategies with business objectives, improving employee experiences, and fostering positive impacts for the council's people and communities throughout Tāmaki Makaurau.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a trusted advisor to meet people-related objectives for designated business portfolios.
- Enhance experiences for employees and leaders within those portfolios.
- Leverage data analytics and insights to identify trends and suggest effective solutions.
- Support leadership development and team effectiveness through talent and succession planning.
- Facilitate change initiatives in alignment with council design principles.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate possesses a proven HR Business Partner background with the ability to influence at strategic and operational layers. You demonstrate courage in delivering constructive feedback to encourage growth and positive change, exhibit resilience, adaptability, and business awareness, all aimed at driving results.
Specific desired qualifications include:
- In-depth knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation and relevant case law.
- Proficiency in utilizing data and workforce insights to address challenges and support decisions.
- Capability to build trusted relationships with business leaders, unions, and colleagues to influence outcomes effectively.
- Experience in Agile HR practices is considered advantageous.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this role is between $140,000 - $145,000 NZD, plus an additional 3.5% employer contribution to KiwiSaver.
