Overview

The Patient Sitter plays a crucial role in closely monitoring patients who are identified as confused, combative, prone to self-harm, or at risk of falling. The sitter ensures continuous observation to maintain patient safety and promptly communicates any concerns to the nurse assigned to the patient. This role operates under the direct guidance and supervision of the responsible nurse.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain vigilant observation of patients designated as confused, combative, or at risk of self-injury or falls.
• Report promptly to the staff nurse regarding any issues or concerns noted during monitoring.
• Work in collaboration with nursing staff to ensure patient safety and comfort.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent General Education Development (GED) certificate is mandatory.
• No previous work experience is necessary to qualify for this position.
• No professional licenses or certifications are required.

This position is based at Piedmont Augusta Hospital and falls under the Piedmont business unit. It requires direct, onsite patient supervision during day shifts as part of the float pool.
