Munitions Quality Control Specialist

Role Overview

The specialist is responsible for auditing and supervising all munitions-related activities focusing on explosives processes within the Munitions Department. This role ensures adherence to internal quality control protocols, evaluates training effectiveness, and guarantees compliance with safety and environmental mandates related to explosives and industrial operations. The position acts as the primary contact for Amentum’s weapons safety matters.

Key Duties

• Conduct random quality inspections covering munitions inspection, receipt, shipment, storage, accountability, supply, procurement, and transport, confirming adherence to explosives and technical guidelines as well as contractual obligations.
• Carry out random quality checks in-process and on final products concerning accountability, inspection, maintenance, storage, transportation, and shipment operations.
• Monitor workshop hygiene and safety practices related to explosives and industrial procedures, identifying issues and reporting trends for corrective action.
• Inspect outbound munitions shipments, including taking validation photos.
• Conduct spot inspections of tools, equipment, safety gear, and protective clothing.
• Randomly review material requisition, storage, and parts tracking processes.
• Audit production and inspection schedules, work orders, and historical records ensuring accuracy and promptness.
• Review technical documentation and military standards for relevance and completeness.
• Assess work processes and facilities for compliance with ISO 9001 and weapons safety standards.
• Coordinate review and annual updating of written procedures and emergency checklists.
• Collaborate with departments and the PSO to standardize processes and procedures.
• Support development and delivery of departmental training programs; assist with on-the-job training and audit training records for compliance.
• Manage weapon safety concerns through the Weapons Safety Office interface.
• Conduct surprise inspections of explosive operations to verify safety and technical compliance.
• Maintain records of current waivers, exemptions, and deviations from safety criteria and advise relevant managers about associated risks.
• Perform risk assessments related to weapons safety violations and report findings for corrective measures.
• Stay informed on base activities impacting weapons safety.
• Engage in quality improvement and risk management for maintenance, storage, operational sites, munitions handling equipment, weapons systems modifications, testing programs, and personnel training.
• Adhere to assigned duties in office, shop, warehouse, and outdoor settings as required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Proficient with personal computers, Windows OS, and Microsoft Office applications including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
• Intermediate understanding of USAF Supply and Technical Order systems or equivalent US service systems.
• Mid-level knowledge of Management Information Systems relevant to PGM activities.
• Capability and authorization to operate material handling equipment.
• Valid driver’s license from home country and ability to obtain host nation license.
• At least a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of seven years of experience with USAF Military Munitions or equivalent US service.
• At least five years of combined supervisory experience in USAF munitions operations and munitions handling equipment or equivalent.
• Meet Senior Munitions Inspector prerequisites per AFMAN 21-200 guidelines.
• Eligibility to attend the USAF Munitions Inspector Course.
• Ability to obtain and sustain a Secret US Government Clearance (US citizenship required).
• Required use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) per safety standards.
• Physically able to perform job functions including lifting/pushing/pulling at least 50 pounds.
• Willingness and ability to travel both nationally and internationally.
• Normal color vision and depth perception.

Preferred Criteria

• Experience in USAF munitions storage, maintenance, control, and inspection procedures.
• Familiarity with TICMS, MC2, TMRS, and IMDS/DPAS systems managing munitions and handling equipment.
• A minimum of two years as a USAF Munitions Inspector with Special Experience Identifier (SEI) Code 836.
• Prior role as a Weapons Safety Manager for two or more years.
• Experience with diverse munitions handling equipment.
• Intermediate skills operating forklifts and tractor trailers.
• Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) degree in Munitions Management.

Additional Information

The role requires regular work in both office and maintenance environments, with possible extended outdoor tasks. Compliance with all workplace safety protocols is mandatory. This position is based in Doha Metropolitan Area, full-time and onsite.
