Role Overview

We are looking for a passionate and skilled Multicultural Specialist to lead multicultural inclusion efforts throughout our organisation. Reporting directly to the Executive Manager of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, you will offer strategic guidance, expert counsel, and project leadership focused on enhancing culturally safe, accessible, and inclusive services targeted to refugees, migrants, and culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) populations. This position is full-time and based in Northbridge.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive the implementation of Ruah’s Multicultural Framework and Action Plan.
• Advise leadership on multicultural inclusion and cultural safety best practices.
• Improve organisational policies, procedures, and daily practices to boost accessibility and inclusiveness.
• Coordinate activities and support for the Multicultural Advisory Group.
• Develop and facilitate training programs to enhance cultural safety and workforce capabilities.
• Contribute to program design, tenders, and evaluations within service delivery.
• Maintain strong partnerships with multicultural communities, government bodies, and sector stakeholders.
• Monitor and report on multicultural initiatives' progress, outcomes, and risks to senior management.
• Represent Ruah in external forums and community engagement efforts.
• Identify initiatives to enhance outcomes for refugees, migrants, and CaLD clients and employees.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Community Development, Social Sciences, or related field.
• At least five years’ experience working with refugee and migrant groups.
• Deep understanding of the challenges faced by refugees, migrants, and CaLD communities.
• Proven leadership and project management skills.
• Knowledge of social, political, and policy issues affecting refugees and migrants in Australia.
• Outstanding communication skills, including report writing and briefing preparation.
• Strong ability to build collaborative relationships internally and externally.
• Experience in designing and delivering training or workforce development programs.
• Awareness of issues concerning Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
• Capacity to work both independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
• Alignment with Ruah’s vision, mission, and values.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

• Personal lived experience as a refugee or migrant is valued.
• Project Management qualifications.
• Experience leading diversity, inclusion, or organisation-wide change initiatives.
• Background in community services, non-profit, or health sectors.

• Remuneration consistent with Level 6 of the Ruah Enterprise Agreement and SCHADS Award, beginning at $115,709 plus superannuation.
