Microbiologist - Remote Contract Position

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Microbiologist to contribute remotely to advanced scientific projects involving microorganisms. This contract role focuses on studying microscopic organisms such as bacteria, fungi, and algae and their interactions, particularly for AI model development.

Key Responsibilities

• Examine and analyze the growth, form, and behaviors of microorganisms including bacterial, fungal, and algal species.
• Support medical microbiology initiatives by investigating connections between microbes and diseases.
• Evaluate effects of antibiotics and other compounds on microbial communities to enhance the precision of AI models.
• Create clear, detailed documentation of experiments and results for use in AI training datasets.
• Work closely with cross-disciplinary teams to maintain scientific accuracy and ensure data quality in AI development processes.
• Offer expert insights both verbally and in writing regarding microbiological phenomena relevant to computational and real-world applications.
• Apply standard rubrics and evaluation methods to assess data quality supporting AI annotation workflows.

Required Qualifications

• At least a Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a closely related scientific field.
• In-depth understanding of bacteria, fungi, and algae systems.
• Proven experience in studying microbial structures and physiology.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with technical and interdisciplinary teams.
• Competence in documenting scientific processes precisely for integration with AI systems.
• Self-motivated to work independently within a fully remote, digital-first setting.
• High attention to detail and dedication to maintaining scientific accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing or using assessment rubrics in scientific or educational frameworks.
• Background in AI, machine learning, or annotation tasks relating to biology or microbiology.
• Possession of an advanced degree such as a Master's or PhD in a relevant discipline.
