Role Overview
The Merchandise Planning Manager position is a freelance, onsite opportunity based in London. This role entails forecasting merchandise sales, developing assortment plans, and overseeing inventory levels to guarantee product availability aligns with market demands. Key daily duties involve analyzing sales and inventory data, compiling weekly and seasonal performance reports, and advising on replenishment and markdown initiatives. The position requires close cooperation with buying, design, and sales departments to synchronize merchandise plans with brand identity and commercial targets. Additionally, the manager supports margin optimization, promotional planning, and contributes to overall business expansion.
Qualifications & Skills
- Exceptional analytical capabilities to assess sales, margin, and stock performance data.
- Expertise in merchandise planning, inventory forecasting, and stock control processes.
- Experience collaborating with sales teams or utilizing sales data to influence commercial strategies.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel or comparable tools, with a solid understanding of merchandising principles.
- Relevant experience within fashion retail, preferably in planning or merchandising roles.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, facilitating effective cross-departmental collaboration.
- Highly organized, attentive to detail, and capable of multitasking in a dynamic environment.
- Academic background in business, merchandising, finance, or related disciplines—or equivalent professional experience.
