Role Overview
This full-time remote position as a Medical Coder at WNS involves examining clinical documentation and accurately assigning medical codes for diagnoses, treatments, and services based on current coding standards and payer requirements. The coder ensures documentation precision and compliance with both regulatory and company policies, facilitating smooth claims processing and revenue cycle integrity. The role requires handling electronic health records (EHR), querying healthcare providers when information is incomplete or unclear, and working collaboratively with quality assurance teams to support audits and improve coding accuracy. Keeping current with coding updates, payer rules, and industry standards is essential to maintain productivity and reliability.
Qualifications
- Proven experience and proficiency in medical coding across various specialties or healthcare settings.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and health information management to accurately interpret clinical records.
- Possession of relevant certifications like RHIT or equivalent credentials in health information or medical coding.
- Exceptional attention to detail along with analytical capabilities to ensure precision and regulatory compliance in coding tasks.
- Experience utilizing EHR systems and billing platforms, with the capability to achieve quality and productivity benchmarks in a remote work setup.
- Familiarity with ICD, CPT, and HCPCS coding schemes, as well as knowledge of payer and reimbursement protocols.
- Preferably holds an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or related discipline.
- Proficient communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate across different teams.
