About the Role
We are seeking experienced Mechanical Design Engineers to join a reputed automotive component manufacturing company specializing in sheet metal and tubular components. This opportunity includes roles for both Design Engineers and Junior Design Engineers focusing on the design, development, and tooling of automotive parts.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and development of press tools including tandem and progressive tooling.
- Development of jigs, fixtures, and gauges for sheet metal, welding parts, and tubular components.
- Creation of 3D models, 2D detailing, and bill of materials preparation.
- Conducting technical reviews and approval of design concepts with an emphasis on defect elimination during design and manufacturing processes.
- Supporting tool room activities and tool maintenance to enhance productivity and minimize machine downtime.
- Interpreting customer requirements through comprehensive analysis of 2D drawings and 3D data to deliver cost-effective solutions using advancements in technology, automation, and innovation.
- Coordinating with material vendors and outside processing units for tool and jig/fixture manufacturing.
- Collaborating with new product development (NPD) teams and tool rooms for planning and executing projects according to customer timelines ensuring quality, cost, and delivery targets are met.
- Estimating tooling processes and related costs for parts and components.
- Utilizing MS Office, Excel, and presentation tools for documentation and communication.
Eligibility and Qualifications
- For Design Engineer: Minimum B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering with 2 to 8 years of relevant experience.
- For Junior Design Engineer: Minimum Diploma or B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering with 2 to 3 years of experience.
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks; NX software preferred for senior roles.
- Strong understanding of concept design, strip layout, and tooling processes including progressive stage tooling.
- Expertise in reverse engineering, cost estimation, and tooling design for sheet metal and tubular components.
- Ability to design jigs, fixtures, and gauges effectively.
