About Lilio Health

Lilio Health is pioneering advanced smart baby wearable technology aimed at providing parents with enhanced insights into their infants' wellbeing. The company’s core mission combines science, technology, and design to furnish peace of mind for families through innovative products.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design, prototyping, and refinement of our wearable baby health devices. This role involves close cooperation with product managers, electronics engineers, and manufacturers to create devices that are aesthetically pleasing, dependable, safe, and intelligent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end mechanical and enclosure design, progressing from initial CAD concepts to production-ready tooling.
  • Create compact, sealed enclosures suited for wearable devices intended for skin contact, achieving high ingress protection levels (IP67/IP68).
  • Apply knowledge of magnetic pogo-pin charging mechanisms and sealed electrical interfaces in design.
  • Lead design-for-manufacture and assembly (DFM/DFA) efforts for injection-molded parts by collaborating directly with contract manufacturers and tooling experts.
  • Develop detailed engineering drawings with appropriate Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) compliant with ISO standards and conduct tolerance stack-up evaluations.
  • Choose skin-safe, biocompatible, and robust materials fit for continuous wear.
  • Design and incorporate soft goods and textile elements such as straps, bands, and fabric enclosures—including selection, integration between textile and hardware, and optimization for user comfort.
  • Conduct mechanical validations including tests for drop resistance, fatigue, ingress protection, and environmental durability.
  • Work closely with electrical, firmware, and industrial design teams to seamlessly integrate PCBs, batteries, sensors, and RF/antenna components within compact device footprints.
  • Maintain awareness of mechanical limitations affecting RF and wireless performance.
  • Rapidly build and improve prototypes employing techniques like 3D printing, machining, and early-stage tooling.

Candidate Profile

  • Demonstrated history of designing compact wearables for the consumer or medical sector, with products shipped into production.
  • Proficient at integrating textile and soft goods components with rigid electronics in wearable products.
  • Capable of independently managing the entire mechanical design process within a startup environment.
  • Advanced skills in CAD software.
  • Experience liaising directly with overseas contract manufacturers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with medical device industry standards such as ISO 13485 and IEC 60601.
  • Background in textile engineering or soft goods manufacturing.
  • German language skills.

Why Join Us

  • Contribute to impactful products that positively influence families' lives.
  • Be part of a dynamic, well-funded startup with a dedicated team and clear mission.
  • Influence the appearance and experience of next-generation baby health technology.
  • Benefit from a hybrid work environment based in Munich Headquarters.
  • Engage in an open culture with opportunities for personal and professional growth.
