About the Role

The Global Operations Group drives Lam Research's worldwide business by integrating information systems, logistics, supply chain, facilities, and large-scale manufacturing operations. Joining as a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be instrumental in supporting new product pilot production, virtual manufacturing, or mass production factories. Leveraging your technical and engineering expertise, you'll oversee the planning, development, and ongoing maintenance of manufacturing processes and methods. Your efforts in tackling technical challenges, improving quality, and streamlining production will advance Lam's innovation and efficiency in manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and solve issues related to new or existing products involving design, materials, or manufacturing processes.
  • Create, develop, and implement complex and safe assembly equipment and procedures for all manufacturing phases.
  • Establish operational methods, routing, and sequencing guidelines for high-volume manufacturing.
  • Conduct virtual builds and devise assembly sequences.
  • Investigate root causes of operational problems such as material variances, bottlenecks, or fixture complications, and propose corrective actions.
  • Identify and execute opportunities to enhance manufacturing methods, aiming to cut costs, boost product quality, and reduce cycle times.
  • Review and improve product designs to enhance manufacturability and assembly efficiency.
  • Manage and coordinate new product builds within pilot production, collaborating closely with manufacturing and product engineering teams.
  • Prepare and release engineering drawings and bill of materials (BOM) through the Engineering Change Management process.
  • Develop comprehensive handoff packages to facilitate smooth transition to high-volume manufacturing.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Production, Industrial Engineering or related field with minimum two years experience; alternatively, advanced degree holders with no prior experience or equivalent qualifications are eligible.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities in electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Deep understanding of manufacturing principles and methods.
  • Experienced with Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) and structured problem-solving techniques.
  • Proficiency with CAD software, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), and Product Data Modeling (PDM) systems.
  • Familiarity with Engineering Change Management processes.
  • Knowledgeable in Operation Method Sheets (OMS), process planning, and BOM management.
  • Graduate candidates are welcome.

Preferred Attributes

  • Experience with semiconductor equipment or capital equipment manufacturing processes.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Competent with statistical analysis, including statistical process control and production data analytics.
  • Understanding of Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA).
  • Proven ability to manage and influence stakeholders internally and externally on technical matters.

Work Model and Commitment

Lam Research values diversity, inclusion, and empowerment, aiming for all employees to reach their potential. The company is an equal opportunity employer with strict non-discrimination policies covering all legally protected classes.

The role offers a hybrid work model, combining onsite collaboration and remote work. Depending on the team's needs, you may work 3 or more days onsite (On-site Flex) or 1-2 days onsite (Virtual Flex) at Lam or partner locations.
