Position Summary

Southern Health-Santé Sud invites candidates to join as a Maintenance Worker 1 at the Portage Regional Health Centre. The role focuses on overseeing and maintaining building and medical systems, addressing demand work orders, and performing preventative care on facility equipment. This full-time permanent position operates under the Physical Plant Services department at the Portage la Prairie site, offering a rewarding career in a culturally diverse community.

Work Details

• Schedule includes days, evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts with 7.75 hours worked daily, totaling 2015 annual hours.
• Employment is in-person at the Portage Regional Health Centre.
• Annual salary range is $22.82 to $26.14 per hour.

Role Responsibilities

• Monitor and sustain facility-related systems and equipment including medical and building infrastructure.
• Respond promptly to demand work orders ensuring operational continuity.
• Execute regular preventative maintenance tasks to uphold equipment reliability and safety.
• Exercise independent judgment in prioritizing work and determining appropriate methods.

Required Expertise and Qualifications

• At least two years of relevant maintenance experience encompassing electrical, carpentry, plumbing, heating, or air conditioning tasks.
• Completion of high school education or equivalent.
• Understanding of mechanical equipment operation, yard equipment maintenance, and preventative maintenance protocols.
• Familiarity with workplace safety legislation, Fire Codes, C.S.A. standards, and competency in reading blueprints, diagrams, and manuals.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.
• Valid Class 5 driver's license, and access to a fully insured vehicle with minimum $1,000,000 liability coverage.
