Role Overview

We are inviting applications for an experienced Machine Learning Engineer to design, implement, and optimize scalable distributed data processing systems. The role demands proficiency in distributed computing, big data technologies, and large language model (LLM) integration within production environments. This individual contributor position reports directly to the Machine Learning Engineering Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and maintain robust, fault-tolerant distributed architectures that ensure scalability and high availability.
• Create and refine data pipelines and ETL workflows using tools such as Python, Apache Spark, and Ray for processing intricate unstructured data.
• Develop batch data processing systems supporting analytics and ML objectives.
• Integrate and deploy Large Language Models (e.g., OpenAI, Azure OpenAI) into production applications, managing tasks like PII detection and data redaction.
• Develop strategies for prompt engineering, fine-tuning LLMs, and establishing evaluation metrics.
• Enhance job performance and optimize systems for cost efficiency and reliable operation.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts, applied scientists, and engineering teams to understand data needs and deliver solutions.
• Implement and oversee data quality assurance frameworks and monitoring tools.
• Identify and address complex data processing issues in live systems.

Employment Terms

This is a hybrid role requiring a balance between in-office presence and remote work, with an expected minimum of two days per week onsite. Job designation may change based on business needs in compliance with local regulations.

Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years in data engineering or similar technical roles.
• Proficiency in Python programming for automation and data workflows.
• Experience with distributed computing frameworks like Apache Spark and Ray.
• Hands-on integration of LLMs through APIs, including prompt management and error handling.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems concepts such as data partitioning, replication, consistency models, and resource management.
• Familiarity with distributed file systems like Azure Data Lake, Amazon S3, and HDFS.
• Experience building RESTful APIs using Python frameworks (FastAPI, Flask, etc.).
• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Competent with SQL and database performance tuning.
• Background in algorithms, data structures, and software design principles.
• Experience with version control (Git) and continuous integration/continuous deployment practices.
• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related disciplines, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Exposure to unstructured data formats such as text, images, video, and audio processing techniques.
• Familiarity with multiple cloud service providers like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Understanding of data governance and security guidelines.
• Experience with ML pipelines and MLOps methodologies.
• Knowledge of LLM orchestration frameworks like LangChain and LlamaIndex.
• Awareness of responsible AI practices including bias mitigation, content filtering, and cost optimization.
• Contributions to open-source communities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to handle complex, ambiguous challenges.
• Clear communication and teamwork skills.
