Role Overview
We seek a dedicated and resilient English lecturer to teach GCSE English and Functional Skills to pre-16 learners on the Highbury Campus, with occasional travel across campuses. This permanent part-time position entails 12 hours weekly covering both teaching and preparation throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver Functional Skills and GCSE English education to pre-16 students.
- Provide meaningful feedback and support to improve learner skills and academic achievement.
- Collaborate with peers in curriculum design, program development, and quality assurance efforts.
- Uphold the highest professional standards representing the College.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with data protection rules.
- Create an inclusive environment promoting diversity, equity, and respect.
- Exercise effective classroom behaviour management and control.
- Re-engage students hesitant to participate in learning.
- Integrate English teaching within vocational trade contexts.
- Encourage confidence and resilience in literacy development.
- Monitor learner progress and execute targeted interventions where needed.
Candidate Requirements
- Strong verbal and written communication capabilities.
- Problem-solving skills to address challenges independently or collaboratively.
- Relevant prior experience teaching English, including GCSE level, or a substantial background in English education.
- Competency in behaviour management and the ability to set high expectations for students.
- Possession of an English qualification.
- Level 5 Certificate in Education or equivalent certification, or commitment to obtain it.
