Job Overview
The Lead Electrical Engineer will oversee and manage all electrical engineering and design efforts connected to Oil & Gas projects. This leadership role demands deep experience in engineering design, fleet analysis, design development, site supervision, and project delivery. The chosen candidate will guide technical aspects throughout the project phases, guaranteeing alignment with industry codes, project requirements, safety standards, and client expectations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Direct and supervise electrical engineering design processes from conceptual stage to detailed engineering and project execution for Oil & Gas assignments.
- Oversee the creation, assessment, and approval of electrical engineering documentation including single-line diagrams, load lists, specifications, calculations, layout plans, cable schedules, and equipment datasheets.
- Lead fleet and electrical system studies as well as engineering evaluations to support operational and project needs.
- Coordinate cross-disciplinary engineering efforts ensuring seamless integration between mechanical, instrumentation, civil, and process engineering teams.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and designers in the project group.
- Evaluate contractor and vendor submissions to confirm conformity with project specs, international standards, and best practices.
- Assist with project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and resource distribution.
- Manage site engineering activities, resolve technical challenges, and offer engineering support during construction, commissioning, startup, and handover stages.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environment regulations as well as project quality and statutory requirements throughout execution.
- Participate actively in technical and design reviews, HAZOP sessions, risk assessments, and stakeholder/client meetings.
- Track project progress and generate technical reports, suggestions, and status updates for management.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Preferably holding Professional Engineering certification or membership in a professional engineering body.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience in engineering and design roles.
- Proven skills in engineering design, fleet studies, design development, and related engineering disciplines.
- Solid track record in site and project management including planning, implementation, monitoring, and delivery.
- Mandatory experience within the Oil & Gas sector.
- Comprehensive knowledge of international codes and standards such as IEC, IEEE, API, NFPA, and pertinent regulations.
- Experience working on both brownfield and greenfield Oil & Gas projects is highly advantageous.
