Role Overview
This full-time position based in Wellington involves advising and representing clients in New Zealand immigration and refugee legal matters. Daily tasks include client consultations, evaluating legal options, drafting and reviewing legal documents, submitting applications and representations, and overseeing case progress. The role requires interaction with government bodies and stakeholders, updating clients regularly, and ensuring compliance with legal standards and professional ethics.
Additional Responsibilities
- Facilitate knowledge sharing within the firm and contribute to ongoing process enhancements.
- Participate in establishing best practices for the organization.
Qualifications and Experience
- Admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand with a valid practising certificate or eligibility to acquire one.
- Experience or a keen interest in immigration and refugee law including visa and appeal processes.
- Strong legal research, analysis, and drafting capabilities capable of simplifying complex legal information.
- Exceptional communication skills focused on empathy, cultural sensitivity, and confidentiality.
- Ability to handle multiple cases simultaneously, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively within a team setting.
- Detail-oriented with sound professional judgment and adherence to ethical, non-discriminatory practices.
- Valuable experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse groups.
