Laboratory Support Worker

Role Overview

The Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a Laboratory Support Worker primarily stationed in the John Radcliffe Hospital Biochemistry Laboratory. This position offers both full-time and part-time opportunities, tailored to meet the laboratory's operational demands.

Working Hours and Schedule

Full-time shifts generally run from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with options for early starts at 6:30 AM or later shifts beginning at 1:00 PM. Part-time schedules are designed to accommodate peak activity hours in the afternoons and early evenings. The role also requires occasional night and weekend assignments.

Main Duties

• Assisting in specimen reception, including the preparation and sorting of patient samples such as blood and urine for diagnostic testing.
• Entering and managing data on the laboratory computer systems.
• Maintaining cleanliness and organization within the specimen reception area.
• Handling some light physical tasks related to specimen processing.

Candidate Profile and Skills

The successful candidate will demonstrate high attention to detail and common sense. Proficiency in keyboarding and prior experience within a laboratory or hospital environment will be advantageous. Comprehensive training will be provided to ensure effective performance in the role.
