Job description

Job Overview

Hull College seeks a dedicated Kitchen Porter to support its curriculum operations by maintaining cleanliness and assisting with deliveries and equipment handling within the catering environment. This full-time role entails working 37 hours per week across 40 weeks annually during term time.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and transport deliveries to designated storage locations.
  • Ensure theory teaching rooms and student changing areas are clean and prepared for use.
  • Maintain the hygiene of kitchen equipment including ovens, cookers, grills, fryers, and extraction systems, including deep cleans during non-teaching periods.
  • Facilitate transportation of kitchen and classroom equipment as well as food trolleys.
  • Perform routine maintenance on cleaning and catering devices.
  • Support administrative tasks related to enrolment, such as preparing course labels, managing bookings, and arranging interviews.

Requirements

  • Minimum Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths or willingness to obtain them.
  • Holder of a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Prior experience performing cleaning duties within a catering context.
  • Previous work experience in catering environments.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Capability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
