Junior Underwriter

Role Overview

AnnieMac Home Mortgage is seeking a dedicated Junior Underwriter to join their team on a full-time contract basis, working onsite in Mount Laurel, NJ. This position supports mortgage underwriting by reviewing and clearing underwriting conditions to facilitate final approval and clear-to-close submissions, primarily under the supervision of senior underwriting personnel.

Key Responsibilities

• Examine credit reports, income evidence (including self-employed income), assets, sales contracts, appraisals, and other loan documentation to ensure compliance with underwriting service level standards, receiving training and assistance from senior underwriters as needed.
• Effectively coordinate with the processing team to resolve inquiries related to loan submissions and document acceptability.
• Assess income documentation from personal tax returns; receive guidance regarding evaluation of business income and returns.
• Confirm that all conditions from Automated Underwriting Systems (AUS) are satisfied and verify loans meet Qualified Mortgage (QM) standards.
• Investigate loan files for indications of potential document or information fraud.
• Stay current with relevant government regulations, legal requirements, and compliance standards pertaining to both branch and broker loan submissions.
• Collaborate with processing and closing teams to ensure all underwriting requirements are fulfilled before loan closure.
• Review and clear underwriting conditions prior to the loan closing process.

Additional Information

This role reports to the Underwriting Manager, with daily supervision predominantly from the Underwriter or Senior Underwriter and the Team Lead.
