Instructor / Supervisor

About the Role

This position involves supporting young adults aged between 18 and 35 years who have mild to moderate intellectual disabilities. The role is based within the Student Learning Service (SLC), a program focused on helping school leavers transition into adult life by enhancing their confidence, independence, and everyday skills. Staff assist clients through various learning activities and community engagement to foster the development of meaningful, independent lifestyles, ensuring their choices and dignity are respected.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver personalized, person-centered care plans aligned to the individual interests and goals of clients.
• Advocate for and safeguard client rights with respect for their autonomy, confidentiality, and privacy.
• Proactively identify opportunities for clients to engage in community roles that are meaningful to them.
• Monitor and support clients' overall wellbeing, including health and personal care needs.
• Facilitate life skills instruction such as cooking, budgeting, cleaning, and confidence building.

Requirements

• Possession of a QQI Level 7 qualification in Social Care or an equivalent foreign qualification recognized by QQI.
• Registration with the Social Care Workers Registration Board overseen by CORU, or having a CORU-approved Social Care Worker qualification with evidence of registration application, or eligibility for such registration with proper documentation.
• Demonstrated passion for empowering and promoting the best interests of those supported.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also managing responsibilities independently.
• Knowledge of New Directions regulations and relevant legislation.
• Valid driving license and access to a personal vehicle.
• Preferably a minimum of one year of post-qualification experience working with adults having intellectual disabilities.
• Experience in assisting individuals with complex needs and managing responsive behaviors constructively.
• Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, IT, and report-writing skills.
• Creativity, enthusiasm, and energetic approach to the role.
• Deep interest in community-based activities and supports.
• Capacity to handle confidential information with discretion and responsibility.

Additional Information
