About the Role
Join Lightforce Academy as a Solar Trade Assistant, contributing on residential and commercial rooftop solar installations throughout the Waikato region. You will assist installation teams by supporting electricians and project managers, ensuring all projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to high-quality standards. This position requires physical fitness, adherence to safety protocols, and a willingness to develop skills in the fast-growing solar industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the mounting of solar panels, installation of cabling, and secure setup of support systems on residential and commercial rooftops.
- Prepare, transport, and organise necessary tools and materials required for each installation.
- Support inventory management tasks including stocktaking and warehouse organisation as needed.
- Collaborate closely with electricians, roofing professionals, and project managers to facilitate smooth project execution.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and complete required installation documentation, safety logs, and job reports accurately.
- Uphold safety guidelines by properly using personal protective equipment and fostering a safe working environment.
- Effectively communicate with teammates and supervisors to address operational needs and process improvements.
- Engage in health and safety training, toolbox talks, and proactive safety measures regularly.
- Participate in other operational duties necessary to ensure successful solar system installations.
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience working in construction, roofing, or similar trades is preferred.
- Capability to work safely at heights and outdoors under various weather conditions.
- Good physical condition combined with a strong safety mindset.
- Attention to detail and pride in delivering quality workmanship.
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate within a team environment.
- Problem-solving ability and adaptability to changing work conditions.
- A valid full New Zealand driver’s license.
- If applicable, current work visa status.
- Basic solar installation knowledge advantageous but not essential; training will be provided.

Additional Information
