Role overview
Big Chief Hire Burton SA, part of Northeast Auto Group, is looking for a highly organised and driven Hire Controller to support its equipment hire operations. This position is central to coordinating customer needs, managing bookings, and keeping daily activity running efficiently in a busy, collaborative environment.
What the role involves
In this position, you will act as a key contact for customers and help ensure hire equipment is allocated, prepared, and delivered at the right time. The role is focused on both service and sales, with an emphasis on creating strong customer relationships and making the hire process smooth from start to finish.
Key duties
- Oversee the full hire cycle, including reservations, scheduling, dispatch, and equipment returns.
- Advise customers on available equipment and recommend hire options suited to their needs.
- Arrange transport, delivery, and pick-up for machinery and vehicles.
- Keep reliable records for all equipment, whether it is in branch, out on hire, or undergoing service or repairs.
- Track hire contracts, agreements, and the associated paperwork to ensure everything is accurate and up to date.
What you bring
The ideal candidate is comfortable working at pace, can juggle several tasks at once, and enjoys being the person others rely on. Experience in truck hire or machinery hire is a strong advantage, but the business is also interested in people who can learn quickly and adapt to its systems and processes.
