Groundskeeper

Overview

The Luxury Collection, an esteemed hotel group with over 120 properties worldwide, is seeking a Groundskeeper to maintain the hotel's outdoor areas in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This role focuses on ensuring the hotel grounds appear well-kept and inviting, supporting the guest experience with authentic hospitality and cultural appreciation.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain hotel grounds by mowing, trimming lawn edges, raking leaves, and other turf upkeep tasks.
• Wash, clean, and refuel all equipment after use to ensure proper maintenance.
• Care for flowerbeds, baskets, and boxes by watering, weeding, pruning, and general maintenance.
• Empty and bag all exterior trash receptacles to keep grounds clean.
• Preserve fountains, flower pots, and other landscape features through cleaning, replacement, or repairs.
• Maintain sidewalks, driveways, cart paths, and parking areas by filling cracks, potholes, and performing necessary repairs to ensure safety and appearance.
• Operate tractors, trucks, or utility vehicles to transport equipment and supplies around the property.
• Comply with company safety policies, report maintenance issues, hazards, accidents, or injuries promptly, and complete all required safety training and certifications.
• Maintain a neat, professional appearance and uniform at all times.
• Protect company property and confidential information.
• Collaborate respectfully with colleagues and assist in achieving common team goals.
• Meet or exceed quality assurance standards and expectations.
• Perform physical tasks including lifting, moving, pushing, pulling, and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds (approximately 22.5 kg) without assistance.
• Stand, sit, or walk for extended periods throughout the work shift.
• Conduct visual inspections of tools, equipment, or machinery to identify defects.
• Utilize fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination to grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying sizes and weights.
• Bend, reach overhead, crouch, twist, drag, and climb ladders as needed.
• Navigate inclined, uneven, slippery surfaces and stairs safely.
• Perform snow removal and ice maintenance duties if applicable to the location.
• Carry out any additional reasonable tasks assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications

• Completion of secondary education or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) certification.
• Less than one year of relevant work experience acceptable.
• No supervisory experience required.
• No licenses or certifications necessary.
