Role Overview
We are currently looking for an energetic and driven Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join our Applications Engineering unit full-time at our Bayswater, Western Australia location. Reporting to the Principal Engineer - Applications, this role offers a unique opportunity for recent graduates to gain practical experience encompassing product design, cost estimation, manufacturing assistance, and client-facing engineering tasks.
The role involves collaboration with seasoned engineers and domain experts while developing expertise in bulk material handling and conveyor component engineering. As you grow, you will engage directly with customers, analyze operational issues, conduct technical assessments, and help deliver innovative, safe, and reliable engineering solutions to Australia’s prominent mining and industrial clients.
Key Duties
- Generate cost estimates for conveyor pulley, idler projects, and aftermarket services.
- Establish and update Bills of Materials and production process routings within ERP systems.
- Contribute to product design efforts and perform engineering calculations.
- Assist in drafting, updating engineering drawings, and maintaining technical documentation.
- Identify process and product improvements enhancing performance and reliability.
- Support engineering tasks during equipment disassembly, refurbishment, and reassembly.
- Work collaboratively with engineering, operations, and sales teams to develop customer-centric solutions.
- Participate progressively in customer interactions, providing technical insights and recommendations.
Candidate Profile
- Recent mechanical, manufacturing, mechatronics engineering degree or similar discipline.
- Foundational understanding of engineering standards, design principles, and core mechanical concepts.
- Competency in interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
- Familiarity with CAD tools such as Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
- Effective organizational and time management capabilities.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
- Motivated with a cooperative mindset, eager to learn from experienced professionals.
- Experience in workshops, refurbishment, or heavy industrial environments is beneficial.
- Exposure to bulk materials handling equipment is a plus.
