Role Overview

The General Practitioner will be responsible for delivering comprehensive primary healthcare to patients of all ages. This includes performing assessments, making diagnoses, managing both acute and chronic medical conditions, prescribing medications, ordering and analyzing diagnostic tests, and collaborating closely with nursing and allied health personnel. The role also involves contributing to preventative health efforts, routine health screenings, patient education, and maintaining accurate clinical records while following established clinical guidelines. The position is part-time and requires regular onsite attendance at the Titirangi Medical Centre, participation in team meetings, and involvement in quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications and Skills Required

• Proficient clinical abilities in Medicine and Primary Care, with experience managing various acute and chronic diseases.
• Experience in Family Medicine, caring for patients across all age groups including children, adults, and the elderly in a community environment.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to provide integrated care.
• Interest or experience in mentoring, training, and ongoing professional development.
• Possession of a medical degree and current registration—or eligibility for registration—with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
• Demonstrated dedication to patient-centered care, cultural safety, and respectful communication across diverse communities.
• Strong organizational and time management capabilities to handle a varied clinical workload on a part-time basis.
• Previous experience in general practice or community health settings is an advantage.
